Cinematographic Photography: The Art of Storytelling

When I got to plan this session, I knew we had the perfect opportunity to create something truly special. By incorporating elements like a romantic picnic, a scenic bike ride, and a classic car cruise, we were able to craft a series of “scenes” that felt like stills from a romantic movie. This approach allowed me to capture not just how Kelsey + Levi looked, but also how they interacted, laughed, and loved in a variety of settings. The result is a collection of images that tell a complete story – from quiet, intimate moments to that hero shot of them loving on each other. This session really hit home because I love and adore the Oregon Coast so much with my whole heart and planning a date for these two there was a dream.

Cinematic Photography

The first thing to remember is that with a cinematographic photography approach relies on all the details – the way light falls across a face, the subtle gestures between partners, the integration of environment to set the mood. Overall, by paying attention to these elements and guiding through a series of natural interactions rather than posed shots, I create images that feel both authentic and larger than life.

For those of you considering cinematographic photography, it’s important to remember that the magic happens when you allow yourselves to be fully present in each moment. Trust in the process, trust in me and above all let your love story unfold naturally before the lens. The result will be a timeless collection of images that truly capture the essence of your relationship and what you enjoy doing.
